for Monday August 29th

Monday morning unloading on J St. Mercy has a number of reasons to insist that some of their trucks handle freight here. I just don't agree.
..........
Some smokers had their picture taken this weekend. This morning this man was smoking in front of our house. We just looked at him and he moved on. I feel sorry for the baby getting 2nd hand smoke.
...........
Smoker.
Smoker in front of our home.
........
Smoker by our home.
........................................
Countless cars go up and down J St. on any given day and they see patients smoking . One thing Mercy might try is to have an attractive, well spoken volunteer talk to them and pass literature. It would give the message "We are trying" instead of assisting them by getting all their gear ready to travel. Fairly often

for Friday August 26th

Mercy's Blog for today. Mercy official Barbara Schor gave me a mini lecture on showing a positive items. Here is one, a old broken sign on J St has been replaced with a shiny new lighted one. Way to go.
..............
Mercy food delivery truck was in the middle lane today. He is very close to our home, and his tail gate is very noisy as it comes banging down.
.................
This is Mercy freight handling area. There are two lifts working. They are beside our and our neighbor's back fence.
The chain link fence is our property line. This is a favorite spot for smokers. Why doesn't Mercy police this problem.

for Wednesday August 24th.

The noisy shredder truck was grinding away last Tuesday. It is loud enough to bother the smokers nearby. I took some readings on it. Does the hospital have liability for ear damage for the nearby smokers?
......
This reading was taken from my back porch. The truck can be heard clearly inside our home.
............
This reading was taken on my property line with Mercy.
Next to the shredder machinery on the outside. The noise inside the truck back was deafening.
No reading taken there.

The operator should have been wearing ear plugs to protect himself. I spoke to Mr. Judd Shank of Mercy about trucks in general and the shredder in particiular. Mercy seems to be making headway to end the freight handling problems on J St.

for Monday August 22

There is a neighborhood meeting at Mercy Hospital at 5:30pm ,Tuesday. It is in the basement auditorium. Light food served. Meeting will last one hour only. If you have something to say this is a chance to express it. You will be with people who are concerned about the neighborhood.
.....
This is our Monday morning freight delivery. The sound of the tailgate can be heard through out our whole home. The truck's tires are outside of the white limit line,
.........
Freight transfer station next to our property line. Note the "NO PARKING FIRE LANE" sign. The black on the curb is from Mercy's busses stopping and parking there.
....
That is our home in the background. Freight being taken into the hospital.
.............
These are hospital doors propped open letting the freight in and inviting what ever dust/flying critters are out there to come inside.
..................................
We have had a few meeting with Mercy lately. The total volume of trucking illegally parked by our home on J St. has lessened quite a bit.. We appreciate their efforts on this problem.

20110816

Why isn't the loading/unloading done in the back where the EIR stated it would be done. It is unsafe to have bus passengers, forklifts, and freight all share the same small patch of ground.

20110812

for Friday August 12th

A doctor in his scrubs. He should know better than smoking.
......
A favorite smoking spot.
.......
Some of these poor people look really sick.

20110810

for Thursday August 11th

The smokers outside Mercy and right by our house are a colorful lot. Not Classy, colorful.

20110809

for Tuesday August 9th

Mercy freight parking. The Odwalla truck has its freight AC unit going. We hear the units going between lulls in traffic. This unit is somewhat quiet. The fish truck is noisy.

20110804

for Thursday August 4

Thursday. Our usual wakeup call from the trucks tailgate. Notice how the truck sticks out into the driving lane.
...........
Smokers. They are there most all the time. I would think the hospital would want to present a better image to all the people who drive down J St.

20110801

for Tuesday August 2nd

It was a busy day for the freight depot. Pictures taken Monday at 11:14 am. The two people in the red square are smoking. Both are wearing blue hospital scrubs.
......
There is not room enough to fit three big trucks into a space that won't take one.
.........
The water man has to unload his truck from the street/traffic side and dodge the cars while he does this. Click on pix to enlarge.
..................

The produce truck driver is parked way past the red limit line, and he has to dodge cars and buses in the Mercy driveway.
.........
Note this is a not temporary situation. Mercy has no plans I know of for building commercial parking on their own property.

for August 1st

Monday morning wake up call for our home. Freight vendor unloading in red zone and driveway, and along our fence.
..............
Freight depot and bus stop. People, freight, and forklifts don't mix.
