Monday morning at the Mercy Freight Exchange. (MFX) The vendor used the sidewalk and parkway. If you blocked the side way, etc. You would get a ticket. The truck is clearly parked outside the white markers. The car on the right is veering into the middle lane to get around. Ready made situation for an impoverished lawyer.

The Mercy Smoking and Information Exchange is busy as always. (MSIE?) The yellow post in the foreground is close to our property line. Depending on the breeze we often get a good dose of 2nd hand smoke. Mercy caused the problem, they should fix it. It is not up to us to police their problems.

Monday morning wake up call at the Mercy Freight exchange. In the orange oval is the shredder truck. In the red oval a wheel chair patient.

Count the commercial vehicles. With the Shredder truck (out of this picture) There are five commercials. Mercy needs a service area for all this activity. Not as they are doing now.

This is a typical-untypical morning. Someone probably took the shredder truck's place in the back, Mercy is moving, etc.

Thank You Mercy. Repeat.......Thank You Mercy, for an empty sidewalk.

This sidewalk has been used for many years to connect two Mercy buildings. The main hospital and the Medical building, northeast corner of 41st and J St. This will relieve hospital foot traffic, and hopefully some of the smokers by our home.

for Wednesday October 5th

Some thing is new on J St., 3810 J St. This building is being remodeled into a medical or medical related building for Mercy. This leave a question. Mercy, at the permit for expansion, promised no more expansion. They are not buying this building but are leasing it. With the remodel, I suspect it is a long term lease. Is this just a way to skirt their promise not to buy? Not to expand

What is wrong with way the truck is parked at the Mercy freight dock? The truck has climbed the curb to stay out of the traffic lanes. Are these curbs designed for loaded trucks to climb?

Something else that is not right. The hospital is using the parkway area and sidewalks for their operation. It is a ticket able offense to block the sideway. Have any tickets been issued to any trucking companies? Where is the mysterious permit issued by the city to Mercy for commercial parking there? Mercy keeps claiming they have one. I would like to see what it allows.

Monday morning at the Mercy Freight Stop. Things have improved for us. They still have a ways to go, There are three Mercy related trucks and a Mercy bus in this picture. A question that needs to be addresses: After the expansion does this situation all go away or does it still exist?

Mercy's neighborhood smoking area, There are four smokers in the picture. Two are in hospital gowns. Why don't they smoke where the doctors and nurses smoke? They all have a lot in common.

Our home is between two Mercy Buildings, the main hospital and this building above on J St. It is used by Mercy for a personal center (?) with 100's of employees walking back and forth daily. Hopefully it will sell to a non-personal entity. Our mercy problems would lesson.

These pictures were taken last Thursday. The fish truck blocked our driveway. He left his truck and was waiting for an opening. His cooler for his fish were clearly audible.

Mercy's freight handling policy shows little regard for the neighborhood and J St traffic. Commercialization of the neighbor is just fine with them. There is too much hospital for their site. So their operation spills out into the neighborhood.

Yesterday..This truck is noisy and unloading in a red zone. What R-Zoned home protection do we have when next to a commercial zoned space? In my opinion the EIR is not worth much. What does say about the stinky buses that idle next to our property day and night.

Today there were many colorful people out on the sidewalk smoking. Here are two of them.
Surely the hospital has bigger gowns to dress their patients for out of doors.

Something is very different about this problem. Where are doctors, nurses, uniformed personnel that look like doctors and nurses? Where are they smoking now? I suspect Mercy has a secret smoking area on campus like another near by hospital has. I hope they accept the above poor souls into their club.

Something new, Mercy truck unloading on their property. Much safer for the driver. Takes the freight work off the street. Does Mercy have a plan for 2012 - 2014?

U.S. Food Service was here this morning with lots of noise and parking and working outside the yellow zone limits on J St. The tires are past the white limit markers.

A long time ago, 2008, Mercy had many meetings with Joanie and myself. We were told the main entrance would be by our driveway. At that time we couldn't even see the hospital from our driveway due to landscaping. Now we live on commercial sign filled corner and feel like we have been overtaken by the 800 ton gorilla. Yesterday a fairly large family was visiting a patient at Mercy. At least one was a smoker so the whole clan held a length discussion that was easily overheard by us. We were promised a screening wall by Mercy. What is the reason it can't be built now?

Monday morning unloading on J St. Mercy has a number of reasons to insist that some of their trucks handle freight here. I just don't agree.

Some smokers had their picture taken this weekend. This morning this man was smoking in front of our house. We just looked at him and he moved on. I feel sorry for the baby getting 2nd hand smoke.

Countless cars go up and down J St. on any given day and they see patients smoking . One thing Mercy might try is to have an attractive, well spoken volunteer talk to them and pass literature. It would give the message "We are trying" instead of assisting them by getting all their gear ready to travel. Fairly often

Mercy's Blog for today. Mercy official Barbara Schor gave me a mini lecture on showing a positive items. Here is one, a old broken sign on J St has been replaced with a shiny new lighted one. Way to go.

The chain link fence is our property line. This is a favorite spot for smokers. Why doesn't Mercy police this problem.

The noisy shredder truck was grinding away last Tuesday. It is loud enough to bother the smokers nearby. I took some readings on it. Does the hospital have liability for ear damage for the nearby smokers?

The operator should have been wearing ear plugs to protect himself. I spoke to Mr. Judd Shank of Mercy about trucks in general and the shredder in particiular. Mercy seems to be making headway to end the freight handling problems on J St.

There is a neighborhood meeting at Mercy Hospital at 5:30pm ,Tuesday. It is in the basement auditorium. Light food served. Meeting will last one hour only. If you have something to say this is a chance to express it. You will be with people who are concerned about the neighborhood.

We have had a few meeting with Mercy lately. The total volume of trucking illegally parked by our home on J St. has lessened quite a bit.. We appreciate their efforts on this problem.
