20110630

for Thursday June 30th

Pictures taken this thursday show delivery truck parked and unloading in the red and blocking part of the driveway. The buses and cars have to turn wide to miss the tailgate.

Another view,
The freight is taken to a transfer area which doubles as a bus stop. Two hand trucks work this freight. Then all this freight is hauled through the length of the cafeteria, coming very close to diners. The empty pallets are taken back the same way.
..................
This is not a good way to run things. Who is in charge of Mercy safety?

20110627

for Monday June 27th

It is Monday morning. This is our next to our home noise maker. He is doing his work in a red zone. He is checking the traffic on J St.
.......
One car slows to let him pass. If it had been in foggy rainy weather..... If the driver had a DUI problem. If... Lots of situations can add up to an accident.
......

Here is Mercy's freight distribution area. The hand trucks work around the bus passengers. A situation somewhat similar to the street problem.
.........
This whole situation will only get worst when Mercy adds all their new expansion, and no more trucking unloading spaces. By Code they were required to add many more commercial spaces. They barely have one now.

20110624

for Friday June 24th

He does his Toting, Packing, and Stacking any where that pleases him.

We think it s uncalled for, for Mercy to run their freight business next to our residence. Mercy should follow the city codes and the EIR. There are other places in their 13 Ac. for this operation. We wish the gorilla was concern about their neighbors.

20110623

for Thursday June 23rd

Pictures taken this morning. The large trucks exceed the parking limits, Above a driver is playing dodge ball with the traffic. He is past the red zone into Mercy's driveway.

The passing cars used the center lane to pass the freight truck as he is parked past the limit lines on the street side. See picture #3, below. Mercy's buses heading the other way use this lane for turning left which is a potential conflict.

This picture shows the limit line. If you count the rear vision mirrors, the truck is way out into the lane. This is not a once in a while thing. It is a three day a week thing.

This show the front end of the truck. It far exceeds the parking limit.
..........................
Why we care.
1.)There were many meetings with Mercy prior to this expansion. We had in home visits by their staff. We feel we were lead down the garden path. Nary a word was spoken about our home being next to a freight handling depot, and bus stop with buses running many times per hour.
2.) There are no plans for Mercy to do anything differently after their expansion. They are required by code to have numerous additional commercial parking space. Where are the plans?

20110622

for wednesday June 22nd

Fairly typical. Diver in street unloading his truck. Other driver getting ready to cross the road to his truck in the middle. The signal causes lapses in traffic. The cars come through in bunches.
There is no way big trucks like these can fit into curb side parking spaces.

20110620

for Tuesday June 21st

Should the freight handlers be using City sidewalks and parkways? The Mercy Campus is 13 ac. There is room elsewhere. No other hospital in the area does this.

20110615

for Thursday June16th

A worst case scenario. A risk-taking delivery driver gets hit by a passing car. No one wants this, but no one is preventing it either. The hospital and Coke and the City all have the power to prevent it and protect the drivers.

All it would take is a car/truck in the middle lane to narrow the lane the delivery driver is using, and the cartoon event will happen. The lawyers will need a truck to haul their money to a bank. Brinks' trucks are always safely parked at Mercy.

20110614

for Wednesday June 15th

Here is a Coke driver way out into the traffic. He is marked by the oval. The loading space is too narrow for these wide commerical trucks. It should be 10ft. and is under 8. The driver is taking an unwarranted risk. In a matter of time an accident will happen.

20110611

for Monday June 13th

This is a sound recording. The sound is better in a few seconds. This will give an idea what we hear from our house two-three times a week from this one truck. The driver knew I was taking a picture and he was being quiet as possible. It will also give an idea how congested the entrance can be with this freight operation.
Joanie and I want this imposition to go else where on Mercy's 13 acres.

20110610

for Friday June 10th

This show the truck driver watching the Mercy bus making its turn into the main entrance. The delivery truck has its tailgate extended into the driveway.

20110608

for Thursday June 9th

Pictures from yesterday.
Why we care? We can smell the smokers from our house. Mercy should be helping these people instead of sending them into the neighborhood with their medical equipment and sad habits.

20110607

for Wednesday June 8th

The red box indicates the end of the trucks tail gate.

A Mercy bus slowly and carefully turns in.

Unloading freight into Mercy's driveway, which is next to our home. The driver is way into using all of Mercy's driveway. Illegally using the red zone and beyond this for his deliveries. That is our home in the back ground. We were told there would be no negative impact by Mercy's expansion, just a minor change in traffic count. We were very mislead by Mercy and the City Planners. We attended meeting after meeting from about 2006 on. They have no plans to change this situation after completion.

.......

20110606

for Monday June 6th

Monday morning, nothing much new. Here the Alhambra Truck is infringing on the pedestrian cross walk. If you or I did this we would get a ticket in a minute. Why no enforcement? In the picture you can see the lighted orange hand just above the truck hood.
.............
Ever present smokers.

The truck gate is a morning reminder for me to get my camera. Note the truck is well into the Red Zone and beyond. Note the freight load is ready to fall over. How long would the main entrance be shut off if the load spilled.
.......................
We care about this because Mercy is using our residential property as their's. And with no plans to make it any better in the future. They intend to operate this way after the project is done in 2013.

20110602

for Friday June 3rd

This cartoon is false and misleading. Dogs and cats do not smoke by our home.

I brightened up the blue smock so this medico would show better.

Is the bus stop for smokers?
