for Monday January 30th

Mercy bus parked in the Fire Lane by our home.
....................................

City of Sacramento Fire Lane Ordnance. No Stopping, Standing, or Parking.
...............................................

This bus is driverless. Picture taken last Friday.
......................................................
Our problem: We don't mind the busses so much except for the fumes and people hang about, as we do having a bus station next to our residential property. The busses arrive and depart many times during the day. The red on the curb is really warn out with constant stooping. There is a Fire Lane sign, but it is faded.

for Friday January 28th

The load comes down with a bang, quite loud as the load hits the ground.
..........................................

The truck is about 35 ft from our master bedroom window, behind the trees.
.....
There is a safety issue as there was fog yesterday morning.
......................................

2 more trucks, one park illegally, one not. Both of these truck had their air conditioners running to keep their load cool. Both fairly noisy. Clearly louder than the traffic noise. In the afternoon a shredder truck was there to add their noise. Does any know what the EIR says of permitted noise. I went into the cafeteria for breakfast and the noise followed in there as the freight is hauled thru the whole eating area, clattering all the way.

Truck unloading sharing public sidewalk with public..
..........
At last a truck is unloading where it belongs.

These three truck are where they belong too. At the Mercy unloading dock facilities.

for Wednesday January 26

The red tiled roof house is our home. We have lived there since 1986, 25 years. Please notice how close to Mercy's entrance is our driveway. Before the current construction it was just a doctors entrance and exit. There was nothing in the Enviormental Impact Report to suggest the amount of traffic it would be have in the last two years and two years into the future.
................................................

A plot picture on Mercy's Campus. Showing our home, The Mercy building to the East of us, and the campus to the west of us. The building on the east get a lot of foot traffic from employees.
The loading dock location off H St. is shown on the plot picture.

for Tuesday January 25th

Yesterday, Monday, the grinder truck was back, and so were the freight trucks. In the last post I said they were 2 Mercy signs west of the main entrance. Actually they are three, for a total of 7 signs on mercy's side property line at the entrance. The smokers were back too.

20110123

for Monday January 24th

This entrance used to acceptable. Only one sign two years ago, and on the other side of the driveway. Now it is barren, treeless, flowerless with a bent fence. There are also two yellow posts and a cable, and two signs on the other side. For a main entrance it leave something to be desired. Our side of the fence is often mistaken for Mercy property, Not residential property.

20110121

for Saturday January 22nd

Mercy Hospital does have a Receiving Area. It is used now and has been used for years.

However it closes at 2:00 pm. Why doesn't the dock stay open as long as necessary to handle Mercy's freight work?

This is a picture of the loading dock (s) area. A Fed Ex truck and another are making a delivery there now.
...........................................
What are Mercy's plans for freight delivery after the new building is complete?

20110120

for Friday January 21st

This grinder truck was noisily busy its thing. He was next our home for four hours yesterday. The yellow zone is suppose to be for a half hour. I called the city parking people, but don't know if they came out. Shelly King told me yesterday they only come once a week. (They were here two days ago.) And they is no place to put them other than on the street, every parking place is taken.

Here is a Mercy parking area with empty space. It could be used for buses, vans, etc. at night but has empty spaces during the day. Why not let them grind there during the day?

Why do we care? The shredder truck is like a ill mannered old relative who stays and stays.

20110119

for Thursday January 20th

These pictures are meant to show some of Mercy's traffic at there main entrance.
It runs heavy, then very light.

Mercy's driveway is very close to our driveway. (See post for Wednesday January 19th) Both Jeremy Schrimsher and Shelly King have gone on record saying the turn out and change of lanes was done to accommodate the Ferry's safety concerns. I go on record to say Mercy has 100's of times more traffic than at our house. The modification does helps us. It would help us immeasurably more for Mercy to stop using the public streets and sidewalks for their dock facilities. Use other areas on their large campus. They should go back and use their old loading docks facilities. These appear unchanged. No where I have I seen any hospital/hotel or like facility do this, especially in a very long (4 to 5 year) project.

20110118

for Wednesday January 19

Yesterday morning. This delivery man chose this place to unload his wares. This picture shows how close our driveway is to Mercy's main entrance. This distance is important for tomorrow's posting.

20110117

for Tuesday January 18th

Joanie talks to a reporter for Channel 40.

20110115

for Monday January 17th

This is a typical unloading situation. The Truck is in the yellow, but the tailgate and the unloading is in the red zone.
..
This is a worst case scenario of the 1st picture. The unloading pretty well blocks the Mercy driveway entrance. Hardly legal.

WHY WE CARE: Joanie and I are impacted by the noise of the loading gate hitting ground. The further from our property the better. There is also backup horns, and the moving of freight by our home.

for Saturday January15th

This is a Mercy Employee sitting smoking right below the sign Shelly (below) talks about.
.....
Bee article 1/14/11.
.................
The mostly present Mercy busses smoke too. The only difference there is no smell. See blog posting for January 11th. (No smell, good or bad?)

20110113

for Friday January 14th

The truckers often use the public sidewalk as a loading dock area. This is against the ordinances. The sidewalks are suppose to be kept open for the public.

20110112

for Thursday, January 13

This is a transfer food packages. All the food stuff for the whole hospital comes through here. Often two fork lifts will handle the packages after they are re stacked. This operation is by our back fence. Questions:
1. Why not use the loading dock that has been used for years? It looks to me basically untouched, un-modified.
2. Should the EIR cover changes to the hospital operation that effects the residential neighborhood. We were shown many parking plans. Nothing was marked loading dock area.
3. The hospital knew it was coming as the concreted in an area for it.
4. The hospital has 13 acres. Surely this operation should not be next to a residential neighborhood.
5. What are the loading dock plans after construction?

20110111

for Wednesday January 11th

This bus in illegally parked in a fire lane. All through the day the busses come and go, Sometime the driver sits in the seat, sometime he gets out and walks around while waiting,.

Our problem: These "invisible" fumes often blow towards our home. Suggestion move the bus stop away from our home.

for Tuesday January 11th

Today I wish to acknowledge something Marcy did do that was positive. They built a traffic diverter on J St.. See above picture. On the not so positive side Joanie an I spent 1000's of dollars in lawyers fees on this. Also it benefits Mercy as much as us as our driveways are so close together. They have 100's of times of more traffic than we do.

20110110

for Monday January 10th

I starting back this blog as a way to document how Mercy is taking advantage of us, Joanie and myself, Jim Ferry. We have been on the receiving end of Mercy's evasive disclosure of the facts. I intend to talk about one subject at a time. Today a truck was using the fire lane to unload.
..............
Our Problem:
A 7 am wakeup call is a negative impact. Our bedrooms are a very short distance away. Also it is an illegal use of a fire lane.
